Introducing the Science/Math Academy at Wasson High School

Mission

Motivate young people by engaging them in relevant cross-curricular programs that build science and math skills; inspire inquiry and innovation; and foster well-rounded life capabilities including communication, leadership, and community involvement.

Benefits of attending the Science/Math Academy:

  • Courses are comprehensive, unique, and innovative (illustrated by this photo of our Horticulture students showing off the roots of their lettuce which they grew in a hydroponic tank).

  • Facilities are comparable to the college experience (illustrated by this photo of our Chemistry students performing a lab with new probeware).

  • Flexible scheduling featuring blocked double class periods lets students move quickly through the curriculum while enjoying extended labs and field trips (illustrated by this photo of our Geology students exploring geologic formations on one of their weekly field trips).

  • Emphasis on inquiry-based problem-solving (illustrated by this photo of our MESA students practicing for the state boat race inside their championship boat).

  • Exciting extra-curricular clubs and opportunities (illustrated by this photo of Wasson students performing field studies in Belize).
